Nov ’16 Drama Workshop

Ms Lucienne Camilleri once again conducted one of her drama workshops for my students on Saturday 19 November 2016. Kids were first, then the teens. Much fun was had by all but also it was a learning experience how to act through song.

Belliegha musical

Thanks to the DLS Productions, I had the opportunity to work with the soloists of the musical BELLIEGHA this summer.

Also two of my younger students took part as creatures from the underworld.

BELLIEGĦA is a live rock musical with an original script and popular rock / pop-rock music to the likes of Bon Jovi, Pink Floyd, Simon and Garfunkel and many others, which have been moulded into the storyline to create a pulsating and energetic performance that will attract a mixed and diverse international audience.

Set in the darkest of times, when Turks pillaged and looted the Maltese islands, the story revolves around the Inguanez family and their three children: Lucia, Maria and Tinu. Lucia, the eldest, is betrothed to a young noble, Mikiel, despite being secretly in love with Ġamri, the baker’s son, and the Inguanez family is confronted with a peculiar love triangle. Disaster strikes when the two younger children go missing, pulled down a well by Belliegħa, who is bored of her dull, monotonous life. Maria and Tinu find themselves in the underworld, home of forgotten mythical Maltese creatures, such as Babaw, Sarangu and Saħħar. Secrets come to light and the promise of hope returns, but the search for the children causes imbalance and shatters the barriers between the two worlds.

Busking for…

This year I created a project called “Busking for…” What it is, is that my students and I busked at Tigne Point several times throughout the summer and also performed during a concert on 7 September at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture…. all in the aid of the Malta Hospice Movement. Today it takes care of over 1000 patients and their families. Hospice services are delivered to patients suffering from cancer, motor neuron disease, end-life respiratory, cardiac and renal disease. These services are all free of charge.
After much organisation, singing, laughter and fun, we managed to collect EUR 530!!! Thank you to all involved!

Drama workshop with Ms Lucienne

Ms Lucienne Camilleri once again conducted one of her drama workshops for my students on Saturday 7 May 2016. The children and teens who attended, learnt how to incorporate drama into their singing. After all, we are not just singers, but actors too. When we sing, we assume a role, the role of the character singing that song. We have to convey the message of the song to the audience, and express the lyrics and concept of the song through our facial expressions and physical movement.
